Labradoodles are energetic, intelligent, amazing, affectionate, and sensitive dogs. They are smart and with proper training can do well in almost any family setting. Of course, every dog has a certain energy level that will make him or her better suited for different family types. My role as a breeder is to help you choose the best dog for your family, even if it's not one of mine. I spend countless hours with the puppies I raise and by the time they are 5-6 weeks old, I have somewhat of an idea what their temperament and personalities are like. This is no guarantee what the dog will be like as an adult, but it's a good place to start. This is so important to consider when selecting a puppy and I take great pride in carefully matching pups with potential owners' needs and family considerations.
As wonderful as they are, Labradoodles (or ANY dog, for that matter) are not perfect and they don't train themselves.
If you are interested in a dog that does not need love, companionship, exercise, socialization, training, time and energy...
my advice is to get a fish! :)
The decision to adopt a dog is life changing. Your new puppy will require a financial commitment, love and affection, and behavior training that will begin here with me, but should continue for its whole life. You should be ready for a new baby in your life, potty accidents, teething and all! You should be 100% committed to the adventure of dog ownership before you make the decision to bring a puppy into your home.
My Labradoodles are bred to be family dogs and they want to please you and be with you! Not only are they stunning, attractive dogs, but they will be your loving, best friend for the next 12 to 15 years. It is my desire that every puppy I raise grows up to be a well balanced, positive addition to their family. This takes dedication on my part as a breeder,
and also on your part as a pet owner. Please consider this carefully before you commit to purchasing any dog.

A few things to mention:
We DO NOT remove dew claws on our Labradoodles. This practice was started as a way to reduce injury in hunting breeds. Our vet believes strongly, and we agree, that the stress this procedure causes the 3 day old puppies and their dam is not worth the perceived benefits.
As of Winter 2010, all of our pet puppies will be Spayed or Neutered before going to their forever families. We have chosen a Spay/Neuter vet that has performed over 1000 ESN (Early Spay Neuter) procedures on puppies and kittens of all ages in her work with various animal shelters and pet overpopulation prevention programs. We fully support the practice of ESN due to the increase in Labradoodles in shelters over the last 5-10 years. There are many unscrupulous people that will cause two dogs to be bred, but they don't care enough about the dogs or the breed to find suitable homes for the puppies they produce and many of them end up surrendered to shelters or they go on to produce puppies that end up in shelters. So many people think they can make BIG money breeding dogs...but what they fail to realize is that it's hard to make a profit if you can't place your puppies. Labradoodle puppy buyers are smart shoppers and the majority of them know they need to find reputable breeders to work with. Reputable breeders spend the time and money to Health Test their breeding dogs and find caring, responsible pet homes for all of their puppies. Many of my fellow breeders have been tricked by people who presented themselves as responsible pet owners, but purchased a puppy on a Spay/Neuter contract with intentions of breeding it. My desire is to be part of the solution, not the problem, by ensuring that none of my pets will produce a litter of puppies that are unable to find homes. If you would like more information about my decision to ESN, please feel free to contact me.
If you'd like more information about adopting a rescue Labradoodle, please visit the International Doodle Owners Group at www.idog.biz or Doodle Rescue Collective at www.doodlerescuecollectiveinc.com . These are both reputable rescue groups that have a known reputation for helping Doodles in need.
Ok, now the fun stuff!
Step 1: If you'd like to purchase an Orchard View Labradoodle puppy, call or email me! I will send you an Application that will help me to get to know you and your puppy desires. *PLEASE NOTE* As of Winter 2010, all of my puppies will be spayed or neutered before they go to their forever homes. If you have any questions about this procedure, PLEASE ask before you sign ANY papers!
Step 2: Fill out and return the Application. I will contact you by phone within 24 hours to answer any questions you may have. I may also have some questions for you! :) After your Application is approved, you can pay the $500 nonrefundable deposit. You can use the PayPal link below or send a check/money order. I prefer PayPal. Please keep in mind, placing a deposit means you are choosing me as your breeder. I never overbook my litters! However, sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances, I am either unable to provide a puppy of your choosing or you are unable to complete the transaction. In either of these situations, I will roll the deposit over to a future litter. It's very important to understand that placing a nonrefundable deposit is the beginning of your journey to obtaining an Orchard View Labradoodle puppy!
Step 3: You are now on the reservation list and will receive updates on due dates, whelping and pictures of the puppies when they arrive.
Step 4: At around 5 weeks of age, the families on the deposit list are given the opportunity to come to an Open House to meet all the pups and see where their new family member has been born and raised. This is a great time for everyone and I love to meet all my puppy families, however it's not a requirement for adopting a puppy.
Step 5: After the Open House, I will work with each family to choose the best puppy for your needs. I will assess each puppy's temperament and personality and give recommendations based on each family's desires for temperament and energy level, as well as physical characteristics and gender preferences. At the time of allocation, the purchase agreeement and health warranty will be signed and completed with your puppy's information included.
Step 6: At 6 weeks of age, the final balance plus any travel fees are due in full. The balance must be paid by PayPal or Certified Check. Please Note: Washington state residents must add 7.6% Sales Tax to the total purchase price. If your puppy is being shipped, I will make the arrangements at 7 weeks of age and you will be notified of the date and time of arrival.
Step 7: Enjoy your new puppy! Don't forget to email me a picture of you and your new family member! :)
Your deposit will be applied to the price of the puppy you choose. Puppy prices vary by generation (Parent Dog X Parent Dog) as follows:
F1 (Labrador Retriever X Standard Poodle): These puppies usually shed, some more than others, and experience the most "hybrid vigor" as their parents are completely unrelated! They can be unpredictable in coat and size, but when the parents are carefully matched by a responsible breeder, this generation is a wonderful choice for people who don't want all the coat maintenance of the higher generations. Some people with mild dog allergies can tolerate the F1 Labradoodle.
Please Note: We no longer breed the F1 generation here at Orchard View. Our foundation Lab, Rosie, has given us two wonderful daughters to carry on her legacy.
F1b (F1 Labradoodle X Standard Poodle): These puppies usually shed very little, although some may have a slightly shedding coat. The ones that don't shed have a tendency to matt if they are not groomed regularly. Some pups can be quite curly and resemble their Poodle side, while others will have wavy coats. The puppies in this category require regular coat maintenance, such as brushing/trimming and grooming. The Poodle traits can be dominant in the F1b generation so these puppies are perfect for people who love the Standard Poodle but also want a little Lab thrown in for fun. Most people with dog allergies can tolerate the F1b Labradoodle.
F1b Pricing: $1600
F2 (F1 Labradoodle X Labradoodle) and Multigen (Labradoodle X Labradoodle): These puppies are very likely to have a fleece, low to non shedding coat. The coat type in this category is usually more consistent, with all the pups in the litter having generally the same coat qualities with some being wavy and some being curly. These pups require regular coat maintenance from their owners unless they are clipped short. With careful selection of parents, the Lab and Poodle traits will be in good balance in the temperament of these puppies, creating the ultimate Labradoodle. Most people with dog allergies can tolerate the F2 or Multigen Labradoodle. Please Note: All F2s have at least one F1 parent, so it's possible that some pups in the litter will resemble an F1 in appearance. This is a great option for families that love that "scruffy" look. :)
F2 Pricing: $1800
Multigen Pricing: $2000
Australian Labradoodle (Labradoodle X Australian Labradoodle or Cockapoo): These puppies are very similar to the American Multigen Labradoodles, in that the coats are either curly or wavy fleece, low to non shedding and consistent within each litter. Again, regular coat maintenance is required. Australian Labradoodles incorporate the Labrador and the Poodle, with the addition of the Cockapoo in the pedigree for the purpose of retaining the soft, fleece coat without compromising the structure and conformation of the Labradoodle. We will occasionally breed our American girls to an Australian Labradoodle or Cockapoo boy to set the coat type and infuse new bloodlines into the Australian Labradoodle.
Australian Labradoodle Pricing: $2500
Our intent is to carefully select breeding dogs who will keep a good balance of the original parent breed traits to produce the perfect Labradoodle.
Shipping, Delivery and Pick Up Info:
Your puppy should be shipped, delivered or picked up when he/she turns 8 weeks old. If you desire that your puppy be shipped via airline, this will incur an additional fee of $400. This includes a travel crate with bedding, health certificate, delivery to SeaTac Airport, and air fare to your closest major airport. I only ship to major airports using nonstop flights through Alaska Airlines, American Airlines or Delta Airlines
We are more than happy to meet with anyone in the Pacific Northwest in Seattle or up to 2 hours from our location for a land travel fee of $200. This includes a travel crate with bedding as well.
Of course, you are always welcome to come to our home, meet your puppy's parents (when possible) and see where the puppy was born and raised.
If your puppy will be delivered or picked up, arrangements will be made in conjunction with other pups being delivered. I am flexible, but I try to coordinate my driving to limit the time away from my family, other puppies and breeding dogs.
